2026 Season Predictions: Three Writers Enter, Twelve Rosters Leave Slightly Insulted
Our fictional staff reviews the original draft rosters, picks contenders, identifies traps, and tries not to start a family incident before Week 1. They fail gracefully.

The pick
Da Beers gets my title pick because the top of the roster looks like someone accidentally drafted with discipline. Ja'Marr Chase, Brock Bowers, Joe Burrow, Zay Flowers and Ladd McConkey is an actual plan, which in this league is basically insider trading.
Patrick's Team is right there too. Saquon, CeeDee Lamb and Josh Allen is not a roster core; it is a landlord notice. The name remains aggressively unfinished, but unfortunately the team is not.
The concerns department is fully staffed
Talk Purdy to Me has the most terrifying weekly ceiling and the most obvious way to make its owner stare silently at a phone on Sunday night. Puka, Nabers, Lamar and LaPorta can bury people. The RB depth can also bury itself.
404 Team Not Found has talent everywhere, then decided to make the roster shape a group project. Amon-Ra and Jeanty are excellent. Multiple quarterbacks, multiple tight ends, and chaos depth make it feel like the draft room refreshed mid-thought.
The bottom line
My playoff six: Da Beers, Patrick's Team, Talk Purdy to Me, Last Minute Consequences, RookRunningbacks, and F-this team n covid. Grandma Bear is the first team out, mostly because half the roster is old enough to remember when fantasy magazines mattered.
Last-place warning goes to Monsters of the multiverse. Bijan is great, but after that there are too many ‘if this breaks right’ sentences. Fantasy managers love upside until they are starting Rachaad White and pretending it was the plan.

The sunny forecast
I am taking Patrick's Team to win it, and yes, I also wish the team name had completed the assignment. Saquon, CeeDee and Josh Allen is a fireworks display with a flex spot. If the middle rounds behave even a little, Patrick Playbook is going to spend the year acting casual while absolutely not being casual.
Da Beers is my safest contender. That roster has star power, tight end advantage, and just enough wide receiver depth to make lineup decisions feel luxurious instead of legally actionable.
Teams I want to believe in
Grandma Bear is my favorite ‘nobody enjoys playing this’ roster. Kenneth Walker, Derrick Henry, Bucky Irving and Travis Etienne are going to make every matchup feel like being tackled by a couch. A very loving couch. With anger issues.
You Just Got Shmacked could be a blast if McCaffrey holds up and Jordan Love keeps the weekly floor tidy. It is the kind of roster that can look brilliant for ten weeks and then turn into a wellness check, but let us stay positive because that is apparently my job.
The prediction board
My playoff six: Patrick's Team, Da Beers, Grandma Bear, That's A-Moore-aye, You Just Got Shmacked, and Last Minute Consequences. I wanted to squeeze in RookRunningbacks too, but the committee informed me I cannot put seven teams in six spots. Bureaucracy ruins everything.
Chaos team: Talk Purdy to Me. Lamar, Puka, Nabers, LaPorta and Kelce means every week could be a parade or a weather delay. Last-place warning: 404 Team Not Found, not because the talent is bad, but because the roster feels like it was assembled during a pop-up ad attack.

Why Last Minute Consequences makes sense
I like Last Minute Consequences because the build has multiple ways to win. Justin Jefferson provides target gravity, De'Von Achane gives week-breaking speed, Jalen Hurts stabilizes quarterback, and the tight end room with Kittle and Hockenson creates matchup leverage. That is not just star hunting; that is roster pressure from several angles.
The name suggests panic. The roster suggests someone panicked in a productive direction, which is rare and should probably be studied.
The strongest roster shapes
Da Beers is the cleanest contender. Chase and Bowers are elite weekly edges, while Burrow gives the roster an easy identity. Patrick's Team has the best start in the league if Saquon and CeeDee both hit, and Josh Allen covers a lot of small sins because elite quarterbacks are basically roster deodorant.
RookRunningbacks is the upside roster I trust most. There is youth risk, yes, but the construction makes sense: explosive receiver, several running back swings, Jayden Daniels, and enough late depth to survive a miss or two without immediately turning to waiver-wire folklore.
Where it can go sideways
F-this team n covid is my chaos team. Gibbs plus that receiver group can win the league, but the delayed quarterback investment means the roster has to be right elsewhere more often. It might be. It might also make Tuesday waivers feel like jury duty.
My last-place warning is You Just Got Shmacked, which feels harsh because the upside is obvious. But McCaffrey health, young depth pieces, and a few fragile assumptions create a wider range of outcomes than people will want to admit at brunch.
